1) If it takes twice as long to charge your batteries as it did when you first had them installed, it may be time to replace them. As batteries age, they will not hold a charge as well as they used to. This means your battery charger needs to work longer to get them back to full charge.
2) Your cart just stopped on the 14th hole or it is now struggling to make it up your driveway when it didn’t use to have a problem. Older batteries start to lose power very quickly and it’s probably a sign that your batteries are due to be replaced.
3) Does your cart accelerate like it use to? Electric golf carts are known for having quick acceleration. If it’s taking your cart awhile to get up to speed you will need to have your batteries checked.
4) A physical inspection of the batteries can tell you a lot. Batteries that are leaking acid and/or starting to bulge on the sides or tops should be replaced. This is especially true if you have any of the problems noted in signs 1 – 3 above.
